Terms of Service
Last updated: April 17, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of SignalFire ("the Service"), operated by Orange-Hat, LLC ("we", "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What SignalFire is
SignalFire lets you commit to a sealed, encrypted claim on the DigiByte blockchain by burning a chosen amount of DGB. The Service stores a ciphertext on IPFS, anchors an on-chain commitment to the burn transaction, and automatically reveals the content once a chosen unlock time has passed. The Service is experimental software and is provided on an as-is basis.
2. No financial or legal advice
Nothing on the Service constitutes financial, investment, legal, medical, or professional advice. Signals are commitments made by third parties and are not endorsed or verified by us beyond the cryptographic integrity checks the Service performs.
3. Irreversibility of burns
Burning DGB through the Service destroys those coins permanently. We have no ability to reverse, refund, or cancel a burn transaction. Before signing the burn confirmation with your wallet, read the confirmation message carefully. We are not liable for any DGB burned due to user error, wallet malfunction, blockchain reorganization, or any other cause.
4. Your wallet, your keys
You authenticate to the Service using Digi-ID with a DigiByte wallet you control. You are responsible for the security of your wallet. The Service never has access to your private keys. If you lose access to the DigiByte address associated with your account, you lose access to any signals authored under that address.
5. Content you submit
You are responsible for the content of the signals you publish. You agree not to use the Service to publish content that is illegal, infringing, fraudulent, abusive, or intended to defame or harass any person. We reserve the right to remove Service-hosted metadata at our discretion, though the underlying burn transaction and any copies of the ciphertext on the public IPFS network cannot be retracted.
6. Judgment and reputation
The Service publishes reader judgments (Accurate / Wrong / Debatable) on revealed signals. These are opinions submitted by other users and do not represent the views of the Service or of Orange-Hat, LLC.
7. Service availability
We make no guarantee of uninterrupted availability of the Service. Scheduled maintenance, software defects, dependency outages (drand, DigiByte network congestion, block-explorer downtime), or discretionary shutdown may interrupt access at any time. Signals that have been burn-locked remain cryptographically committed on-chain and in IPFS even if the Service itself is unavailable.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Orange-Hat, LLC and its officers, members, and contractors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or DGB, arising out of or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of US$100 or the amount you have paid us in fees (which is currently zero).
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Orange-Hat, LLC harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damage arising from content you publish through the Service or from your violation of these Terms.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the Service and take effect immediately upon posting. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Orange-Hat, LLC is organized, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
